There’s some exciting news from ACE Trains with details of new developments. All of our existing product lines are now being handled by our colleagues at Rails of Sheffield, the UK’s largest model railway retailer. There you’ll find all of the current models offered (LINK).
These new initiatives are designed to bring the unique character of the ACE Trains brand to a wider audience, and to those who may not be aware of the company’s tremendous heritage over the past 30 years. Rails of Sheffield are the largest providers of finescale 0 gauge model railway products, and the addition of ACE Trains with its accent on vintage coarse scale and its ‘all metal’ DNA thoroughbred is a great new step in expanding the hobby to an ever growing band of model railway enthusiasts. Welcome aboard and especially to all of our new followers in the United States, Canada and around the globe: The world of 0 gauge is indeed really exciting:
Rail’s current listing includes the innovative EM1 electric locomotive, the classic Class 55 English Electric ‘Deltic’ diesels, the tremendous range of bogie hopper wagons, and the groundbreaking LNER P2s in traditional and rebuilt streamlined forms and a great stablemate to the ubiquitous A4s. No gauge 0 model railway layout should be without one.
New Product Development
As many readers will be aware Len Mills has taken retirement after a sterling, long-haul career with ACE Trains over the best part of 25 years. He’s brought to the model railway brotherhood an unique design contribution with classic, monumental, designed locomotives that just stand out – simply because they look brilliant. Len’s portrayal of the Duchess and Coronation classes, the Britannia class, and many, many more have stood the test of time, ensuring they are highly sought after, exceedingly collectable, and good investments achieving record prices in the second-hand market. That’s a tremendous legacy. We wish Len a long and happy retirement.
As ever, ACE Trains has a programme of new product development. Martyn Pring of Shamrock Trains will be spearheading these plans. Like many in the ACE Trains fraternity, Martyn, too, has enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship in the model railway sector blending a scholarly railway, maritime and travel history perspective to the hobby, and especially of late with the Railway 200 celebrations. Watch out with the many other bicentennial railway celebrations taking place around the globe over the next decade, and just how some of rail festivities might well weave themselves into new ACE Trains plans.
In the meantime Martyn is taking the lead with our next big project – the E/47 BR Standard Class 5 locomotive – and consolidating all new orders. Placing an order is very easy. The BR Standard Class 5 4-6-0 engine and tender is a superb highly detailed 0 gauge coarse scale model and attractively priced at £695.00 each. It features a classic design intermingled with detailed elements appealing to both finescale and vintage styles audiences.
